Jules and Sue keeping you updated

Food for Thought !

Last night Sue and I decided to do something a little different for our weekly date night,  We asked Chef Gary to come to our house and cook for us, before I show you the food I thought I would tell you teh story of how we know Chef Gary and why we asked him to cook for us.

We met Gary with his then Fiance Karen back in 2006, they were reccomended to us by our good frinds at David Bampton photography in Southampton,  we hit it off straight away and they booked us for there wedding,   We then met in May 2007 for an engagement shoot, it was so much fun and here is a photo from the shoot:-)

We then met them for there lovely wedding on September 2nd  2007 which was at Careys Manor in the new forest, a particular favourite venue of ours.   Yoo can see our blog post here,  yes we have been blogging avidly since 2006:-)

Gary and Karens Wedding on our blog  also see it here on our Venue Website

We have met Karen and Gary several times since including when they reccomended un to Carl and Lucy and you can see there wedding here.  and we are seeing them again at Issy and Andrews wedding, Issy was Karens bridesmaid:-)

So recently Gary decided to start his own company, part of what he does is Dinner Parties which brings us right up to date.

So here are a few photos from last nights Dinner Party which I am pleased to say Gary and Karen joined us for.

And of course our Cocktail, for those of you not following our Cocktail anticks here on facebook, here is the recipie for last nights cocktail,

Sparkling hunt punch

half shot white rum
half shot dissarano
half shot cherry brandy
1.5 shots OJ

shake over ice, pour into a champagne flute and top up with Champagne:-)

So our menu was as follows.

Pre-Starter:    Freshly made Pitta bread, with Chef Gary’s Lime and Coriander hummus,

Wow simply amazing, we ate this in a very relazed way whilst I made cocktails, the bread was delicious and the hummus was so flaversome it was a match made in heaven and the perfect starter.

Starter:  Our starter was Onion Bhaji’s served with Coriander and Chilli Yoghurt and the most delicious and colourful Chilli dip we have ever tasted.

A very moorish starter and we had to force ourselves to stop and leave room for the mains which were smelling amazing at this time.

Main course:  North Indian inspired Beef curry with Cumin, Garlic, Ginger, Chilli, Tomatoes and Yoghurt.      and South Indian inspired Red Lentil curry with Spinach and Coconut.     Fragrant Basmati Rice with Cardomon and Lemon.

OMG what can I say, these were amazing, delicate and very tasty, I am a big curry fan and make a pretty mean curry myself but these were delicious and scrumptios, mouthwatering, need I go on:-)

Desert:   Lemongrass and honeycomb Creme Brulee  and Chocolate, Chilli and Brandy Pot served with Cinnamon Tuile Biscuit.

Speechless:-) really it was that good.

All in all it was an amazing experience and Sue and I have booked gary to do a dinner party we are hosting with friends on the 22nd April, Chef Gary charges around £35 per head fully inclusive and you dont even have to wash up:-) all in all it was an amazing experience with Sublime food and great company.

Pat Chapman,  You need to watch this boy cos can he make a mean curry!

Happy New Year 2011

Good morning all,

Despite still not feeling tip top after we both have had the flu over Christmas and the New Year! I woke this morning with a great sense of excitement realising that we have started another amazing year, Sue and I have some wonderful plans this year and already have a good number of bookings for both weddings, Boudoirs and most excitingly our workshops. Our wedding bookings seem to be following the trend and are slightly down on previous years although we are 100% confident that we will reach the 40 we want for 2011 because we have an amazing client base and most of our bookings still come from recommendations which is just fantastic.. Our Boudoir bookings are already up on last year, we both enjoy our Boudoir and Pinup’s and it looks like 2011 will be a good year again, we did 72 in 2009 which was amazing although to be fair we were offering some very different packages back then, We did 55 in 2010 so we are both excited about this year and will soon be launching our new 2011 boudoir backdrop.  Our workshops are the most exciting thing for this year, last year we launched Ecole Boudoir (school of boudoir) and have already confirmed several bookings both one-2-one and groups, in fact our February group is now sold out which is an amazing feeling, We are currently working on an online calendar to help with bookings and hope to launch later this month. We are expecting to announce our international travel dates during February which is both very exciting but also VERY scary:-)

Sue and I start back to work on Tuesday when we will be updating our sites as always and tweaking the studio a little, we also have the builders back on Tuesday to start pouring concrete footings which is exciting, Those of you that visited during November and December will remember the “big hole” well soon it will be part of the Studio and I cant wait,  in fact it would have been completed in December but we unearthed the mains power supply for our studio and house so have to wait for the powers to be to move it. Once completed it will make our group days much more comfortable, not only will we have ample parking we will also have a separate studio room for either editing or just chilling our for a coffee or lunch maybe.

Our first shoot is on the 8th Jan followed closely by our second on the 11th Jan so we are both looking forward to being creative again, both Boudoir shoots so a great way to start the year.

On a more personal note,  After loosing my Pop last year I am hoping for a more emotionally stable year during 2011,  Sue and I continue to remodel our house which is something we have both always enjoyed and we are doing very well, the top is almost complete and during 2011 we move downstairs, Our house has seemed a bit like the severn bridge in the past, we get to the end and then start all over again:-).     Kaylop has recently moved into a new house, she has an amazing room close to her new work and is very happy, Andy moves out on Tuesday to an equally lovely house and we are both delighted to see them settled and happy with there careers.

Sue and I photographed 43 amazing weddings last year (yes I know we are supposed to stop at 40!!! long story)  we photographed some great new venues as well as a few of our favs as well and got to meet some amazing new friends and wedding vendors too,  we had a few adventures, not least our last wedding of 2010.  Lots of our couples had babies and I am pleased to say that we got to photograph many of them,  Our clients know the value of fantastic photography and this is very important with children and families.

We have lots of plans for 2011 and we cant wait to share them here with you but for now  thats about it for now apart form saying have a wonderful and very happy 2011

Edward and Ali and a whole lot of snow!

On Saturday Sue and I joined Ali and Ed on what was to become a mini adventure,  It all started on Friday night when I noticed taht the weather for Southampton looked to include a lot of early morning snow, I quickly phoned a couple of hotels and 30 minutes later Sue and I were heading off to Farnham to the Farnham House Hotel to stay the night and to hopefully avoid any snow problems…..

We woke at 7am on Saturday morning to a splattering of snow but a call to our daughter revealed that Southampton did indeed get snow and she was snowed in at home, PHEW ! good desicion so far,  we had a shower and headed of to breakfast but between ordering and receiving our coffee we noticed that the snow was now thick and very heavy so we abandoned our fiull english and headed to the Brides house. by the time we arrived it was very heavy and Ali’s road was almost blocked with cars trying to get in, eventually we managed to park in her driveway, PHEW ! again:-)

Although we were some 2 hours early it felt prettyu good knowiing that we were with Ali and the girls safely and in plenty of time,  well after a couple of hours preperations with our good friend Natasha who did the hair and Makeup  we were about ready to leave for the church when there was a phone call from the Vicar to say that he had decided to cancel the wedding !!!  WHAT ! Moses can part the red sea, Jesus can walk on water but the bloody vicar cant get to the chuch for a bit of snow, C’mon Vic get a grip !!!   well eventually after a couple of hours and lots of phone calls, shovels and grit the vicar decided to allow the wedding to continue and we all headed off to the Church, Sue and I had to catch a lift in a 4 x 4 because the mini was well and truly snowed in by now, the Bride and maids had to cancel the Bentleys and opt for Land Rovers but all in all it was a great feeling.

After the service we then had the equally tough trip to Cain Manor where a veery warm welcome awaited us some 3 hours later than expected, but in true British style we had an amazing wedding, Ali and Edward both came outside for some fun in the snow as did the Groomsmen and Bridesmaids so all in all its a case of Alls well that ends well:-)

Sadly Ali and Ed missed there honeymoon flight due to Snow but I am sure the memories from Saturday will keep them going for a very long time.

Our special thanks to Jackie for looking after us despite all the drama.

Merry Christmas,  Jules and Sue XXX

Andy and Kate get married @ Audleys Wood Hampshire

On Friday we travelled to Audleys Wood in Hampshire to photograph the wedding of Andy and Katie who we met when we photographed Katie’s sister’s wedding back in August 2008,  We started our day with Kate and the girls at Audleys for a couple of hours of fun relaxed photos before we headed off to meet a very nervous Andy in the bar., we then headed back to Kate and into the beautiful Audleys Wood ceremony room for a lovely ceremony and then we took Andy and Kate out into the snowy grounds for some fun and really gorgeous portraits.

We then went back in by the warm coal fires to warm up and take a few family groups before being called for the wedding breakfast which was scrummy, this was soon followed by the speeches and then an hours relaxing before we went into teh dancing, this was yet another amazing winter wedding and Katie was amazing and never once moaned about the cold.

Trevor and Samantha get married at the Du Vin Winchester

On Sunday we joined Trevor and Samantha for their beautiful winter wedding at the Hotel Du Vin in Winchester on what was a cold and wintery sunday afternoon, this did of course make for some amazing and dramatic photos which we are sure Trev and Sam will absolutly love.

We started our day with Sam at her Mums house in Hamble southampton for a couple of hours of relaxed preperation shots before heading off to the pub to meet Trev and the boys. we tehn headed back to the Du Vin which is an amazing hotel full of very friendly staff ready for the ceremony.   we had a beautiful ceremony then whisked Trev and Sam outside for  a few minutes before heading into the lounge by the coal fire to grab a few shots of the guersts relazing and enjoying the evening.

After some family groups by the Christmas tree and some great portraits with Trev and Sam we headed into dinner, this is when Sue and I headed home, it was an amazing wedding at a lovely location.

God bless and goodnight pop

Its with a heavy but relieved heart that I have to tell you all that my dearest dad past away on Tuesday evening after a short battle with Pancreatic Cancer, back in April this year my dad was diagnosed with cancer and we were told that he only had a few weeks to live,   we did what most families would do, we fell apart!  but Dad soon sorted us out and told us that he wanted to spend as much time as a family as we could,

So, within days the family BBQ’s had started,  the 4 children,  Grahame, Me, Scott and Nikki and our families spent the whole summer with pop, somebody was with him most days and every day was a blessing,  we played footie and watched it too, god I bloody hate football:-) we walked and talked, we shopped at the garden centres which he loved we just had a blast and personally I have NO REGRETS  and could not have wished for a better summer with my dear dad.

A few weeks after being diagnosed my sister got married which was just the most amazing day, I wont go on about that again but please take 5 mins to read about it here if you wish.

All in all I am blessed with some amazing memories of my dad, I am pleased and very proud to say that so does Sue and our Children Andrew and Kayleigh,  Sue has been so very close to pop for the past 30 years and Andy and Kaylop have loved pop since there birth and right up until this day he has been a significant person in their lives.

I would like to thank my Brothers and sister for looking after pop whilst Sue and I were in New York,  the staff at the Countess Mountbatten hospice and the Macmillan nurses for there undivided love and care towards my pop,  my thousands of friends from all around the globe for there daily love and support, my good friend Jo for her constant love, I love you so much Jo,  My wife Sue,  words cant express what you mean to me or what you meant to pop,  My life simply would not have been the same without you to share it with, My children whom I also love dearly and have been amazing, and everybody else for their love and support towards me and my family.

But mostly, much more than anything……..I want to thank you Dad for holding on for me for 5 long painful horrible days until I got home from New York to say goodbye and hold your hand, thats the best thing in this world that anyone could ever ask for and thank you also for slipping off later that night

I love you pop,  we all love you,  I know your in a better place now and you know how much you will be missed but also how much love you have here from us all,  yesterday Graham summed you up,  ”You had an infectious smile”   I hope to god that I inherited that

For anyone interested the funeral service will be held at Stoneham crematorium on Thursday 23rd Sept 12:30   My dad loved his garden so if you would like to send flowers please contact Natalie at Flowers by Design,  she did Nikki’s wedding flowers and Pop would appreciate that a lot  Website or  07788 483452

Good night and God bless you Pop x
