Nikon update

Despite the time of year Sue & I have been very busy and in the short month that we have been using our new Nikon’s we have already taken thousands of photographs between us and after numerous calls from other photographers over the past few weeks I thought I would give you all a quick update.

We have photographed 5 training days and 11 portraits 8 Boudoir’s and 3 weddings as well as numerous personal photos and every photograph so far has been as exciting as the very first all those years ago,  the Nikon kit really has rekindled my love for photography.  Those of you who know me will be very aware that I love my job and I am lucky that I always have and nothing has changed there, but for the first time in many years I want to go out on my day off and take photos and moreover so does Sue,  needless to say this has made us nerdy almost 24/7 :)

The most amazing thing about the Nikon’s both the D3’s and the D700’s is the clean files, I love clean sharp photos and these cameras definitely produce what I am looking for, the last wedding I posted was a perfect example where I was shooting in Romsey Abbey between 3200 and 6400 ISO and OMG these files are clean as a whistle and pin sharp,  I also love the SB900’s (flashgun) the Nikon flash system is amazingly reliable and brilliant for my style, I use a lot of fill flash during these bright sunny days and I just love photographing in full sun so often need to use them to create my look.

The one thing that Sue continually comments on is the amount of kit that we now need to carry, although we do have spare cameras and lenses in our car, we only actually carry 3 cameras (2 x D3’s for me and 1D700 for Sue) along with 5 lenses, this is a lot less that we used to carry with our Canon kit and in fact sue carries all of our kit in 1 small shootsac which is brilliant.

We have 27 weddings over the next 12 weeks so I am sure that we are going to be a tad to busy t post too much here but one thing for sure is that I am happy to be on board with Nikon and looking forward to a great summer.

I would once again like to thank Colin Inglis  and Rob MacNiece from Nikon UK for there help .

Help for Heroes charity

Although Sue & I are committed to help our fantastic nominated charity for 2009 the Rose Road Appeal,  we still often get calls to help other charities and this morning I had a message from my good friend Phil Collins who runs a fantastic Archery Centre Eclipse Archery  in Hampshire, Phil asked if we could cover the photography for an event to raise money for Help for Heroes on August 16th this year,  and although its my birthday :) (message to you all…dont forget my card) we also have a fantastic wedding at Rhinefield with Dave and Emily on that day so we had to decline.

We did howether donate 2 fantastic photo prizes for there raffle.

If anybody else wants to help or attend please contact Phil for details at Eclipse Archery.
