Wedding photography @ The Domus in Beaulieu in Hampshire with Ash and Jo

From the first time that we met Ash and Jo I just knew that their wedding was going to be fantastic, They are an amazing couple, very relaxed and fun, Jo is a Dr and Ash is Maverick from Top Gun:-) well he thinks he is anyway lol,  We started our day at Jo’s parents home in Beaulieu for some relaxed hair and makeup and lots and lots of sandwiches (thanks Dad)  before we left to Meet Ash and his best man John in the Montague Arms and then a gentle stroll to the beautiful Beaulieu Abbey.

A little later Jo arrived looking amazing in her Dad’s lovely Bentley and then the amazing ceremony took place, Beaulieu Abbey is such a gorgeous church and we all enjoyed the service, Outside afterwards Champagne was served and just as deserved the sun shone throughout, We took a few family photos and then took Ash and Jo for a walk for some amazing portraits before heading into the Domus for the wedding breakfast .

After a very relaxed meal the speeches started and everything erupted once John started with a few choice photos of Ash but I am pleased to say that Ash still retained sis Maverick title despite what John did to destroy it:-) We then headed off for the most romantic first dance ever, this was the first time that I had seen Sue cry during a first dance  with DJ Mike Sullivan who was amazing,

We finished on a lovely evening shot outside,     Fantastic wedding………..You guys are quite simply made for each other !

The Hampshire Autistic Society, can you help?

I dont very often post things like this on our blog but this really is an important charity and one where literally “every penny counts”

One of our lovely brides from a few years ago Vanessa has decided to trek through Peru for 10 days (eek) in order to raise money for the Hampshire Autistic Society and is hoping to raise £3500.00.  I am pleased to say that she is off to a good start and I obviously wish her well.

Please take a look at her sponsor page and help is you can, its easy and as I said every penny helps, If you can afford a pound or a tenner or more:-)it will be going to such a great local charity.

For any of our clients that do donate, please let me know and Sue and I will send you a gift as way of showing our appreciation, we really do want to help Vanessa to reach her goal, how cool would it be to say that we helped that?

Vanessa’s Page please visit

Hampshire Autistic Society for more info

Please do let us know if you like this and decide to donate, Sue and I would be so very grateful.

Me, Sue, James and Suzie, a Bishop and a Volcano !

On Saturday we travelled to Bury Court Barn in Bentley to photograph the beautiful wedding of James and Suzie who live just down the road from us.  Whilst traveling up Sue and I were chatting about the odd guest missing the wedding because of the Icelandic Volcano but little did we know just how important a guest  it was who was going to miss this wedding.  When we got to Suzie at the Barns at Bury Court she told us that the Vicar was stranded in Rome and was unable to get back but her next words were “We have an upgrade” with a smile, Yes we have the Bishop !

After an hour or so at Bury Court Barn we traveled just down the road to St James Church in Rowledge  where we were greeted by the Bishop,  I am pleased to say he was a wonderful chap and looked just amazing in his full gown and hat, I am also pretty sure that he thought I looked amazing too:-)

After the most amazing and at times moving ceremony we headed outside for confetti and then back to Bury Court for our photos and drinks in the wonderful gardens, we were blessed with great weather and 170 wonderful guests so had the perfect Bury Court Barn Wedding.

During the very funny and emotional speeches James the Groom read out a poem that he had composed for Suzie and then got a standing ovation, well deserved !

Later in the evening after a very scrummy wedding breakfast cooked and expertly served by Jacaranda (thanks guys) we moved into the evening with “face in the crowd” a live band who were incredible and continued to dance long into the night.

Thanks guys for looking after us.

Jules

Did I mention the shoes ?  O the shoes were wonderful:-)

Wedding photos at Chilworth Manor with Richard and Sonia

On Friday we joined Richard and Sonia for their wedding at Chilworth Manor in Southampton on what was yet another glorious day.  Chilworth manor is only half a mile from our studio so its a very popular venue for us and the more we work there the more we like it,  Richard and Sonia had an amazing day which went without a hitch mainly because of Sonia’s planning and sheer determination to get things right !  we started our day at St John the Baptist church in North Baddesley for an amazing service in a very packed church and then some very entertaining confetti afterwards, when I say confetti it was a toss up wether I called it confetti or a controlled explosion but after thinking about it, there was NO CONTROL !

We then headed off to the Chilworth manor for a wonderful relaxed afternoon sipping drinks on the lawns and watching the world go by, after a few lovely photos we all headed into a wonderful wedding breakfast and then the speeches which were very entertaining including the best woman Anna who gave Sonia a scary 5 minutes.

We were then lucky enough to get outside for a few more photos and to catch the last of the sunset before back in again to dance.

Later in the evening Richard and Sonia surprised everyone with a traditional popcorn trolly and a Candy Floss trolly and everybody just loved it, what a perfect way to end the perfect day.

Thanks for looking after us guys and although you did not make your honeymoon due to the volcano, you did have an awesome wedding day !

Kudos to Nikon NPS (Nikon Professional Service)

Sadly its not very often that a company makes me want to post a message here for positive reasons:-)  But for the second time I am going to give a shout out to Nikon for their fantastic service and attention to detail.

After last Sundays wedding our 105 VR lens stopped working properly, it was working fine apart from the macro feature and as you know I love the close-ups at weddings. I noticed this on Monday morning when doing our weekly equipment test, Its not surprising that these things go wrong because of the constant use they get which is exactly why we test everything weekly.

So, Monday at 11am I emailed my contact at Nikon Richmond and explained the problem, I was told to send it in which I did at 4pm Monday, Tuesday morning I received an update to say that my lens had arrived and was being reviewed.  I had explained that I was only 3 days away from my last wedding and said that if possible I would LOVE it back for Friday Morning before 1pm,  Our wedding tomorrow is only 1 mile from hope and our son could have dropped it up to us.

This morning at 11am it was delivered back to me having been fully repaired, I have tested it and its perfect,

So my lens was repaired and with Nikon for only 24 Hours,  how fantastic is that,  Nikon UK certainly know how to look after their professionals and I am very grateful.

Since moving to Nikon we have confidently recommended Nikon to our workshop clients and once again I am proved right by a great company that we are proud to be associated with and very pleased that they will continue to supply us with fantastic equipment for the foreseeable future .

Thanks Rob and all at Nikon,

Jules

Wedding photos @ Lainston House Winchester with Robin and Emma

On Sunday we joined Robin and Emma for their lovely wedding at Lainston House in Winchester Hampshire for what was another beautiful sunny day.  We started the day with a very excited Emma at Lainston House and spent a couple of hours getting to know her family  before heading off to the local pub to catch up with Robin and the boys, after a few relaxed photos I asked the Best man Ryan  for the rings only to get the old ” OMG I left them at the hotel”  fortunatkly it was only a mile away but it did make us all laugh:-)

We then went into the church where we met Anna and Simon, Anna was one of our lovely bridesmaids at her Sister’s wedding (Lucy and Carl at the White Star Hotel) back in January. After a beautiful ceremony we headed up the road to Lainston for a fun filled afternoon on the lawns and then into the wedding breakfast in the beautiful Dawly barn.

We had a lovely day and look forward to seeing all of our friends again at the next wedding:-)

Wedding photography at Hedsor House with Phil and Rebecca

On Saturday we had our first wedding at Hedsor House in Taplow Bucks and it was an amazing day, the sun shone from early in the morning through till sunset and everybody made the most of our first real spring day by gently sipping champagne out on the lawns under the gaze of the circling red kites.

We started our day at Rebecca’s parents house for a few shots before meeting with Phil and the boys at the pub, then onto the beautiful church for a lovely ceremony.

We then all headed back to the amazing Hedsor House just up the road in Taplow  for a fun afternoon and evening.

We both loved Hedsor House and hope to go back soon.  We got some amazing photographs that I know Phil and Rebecca are going to love.

We were recommended by our good friends Bruce and Lindsay (remember her Mum and Dad were also Jules and Sue)  who’s wedding we shot back in August 2008 and were delighted to see them both at the wedding.

Calm before the storm :-)

Ok not really a storm but you get the drift if it,  So far 2010 has been a wonderful year for us at Julian Porter Photography, that would be Sue and I then!  We have photographed 5 amazing weddings, 2 at Rhinefield house which is a very popular venue for us, and 3 new venues, the first in January was the White Star Tavern in oxford street Southampton which made an interesting wedding venue,   The came Rhinefield with Donald and Leanne, Leanne has now been posted to Afganistan so our thoughts are constantly with her, the third was a new venue for us, Treworgie Barton  in Cornwall with Dan and Marie and it was an amazing day, then came our second Rhinefield/Highcliffe wedding with Seb and Carrie which was fab and then another new venue, Great Fosters in Surrey with Jonathan and Emma which was an outstanding venue and a great day, we have another Great Fosters wedding next year and we are already looking forward to it.  I have linked all of those with some photographs if you would like to take a peak.

Since Jonathan and Emma’s wedding we have been taking a break  ha ha ha!  well a break from weddings but we now have 6 to do in the next 21 days and we are both totally excited about them, again we have  a mix of new venues along with some that we have shot lots of times,

Our first of next weeks weddings is a new venue Hedsor House in Taplow bucks, Sue and I visited there a few weeks back and it looks amazing, then we are at a very popular venue for us Lainston House in Winchester which will be amazing as always, and then we are off to Chilworth Manor which we love and is only 2 minutes from our studio and then the Barn at Bury Court which we have worked at before but not for a couple of years and quite honestly I had forgotten how pretty it is there, then its off to the Domus in Beaulieu which I have worked at before a long time ago with another photographer so its another first for us and we are both looking forward to it, then our last wedding will be with Jonathan and Sarah at Northbrook Park in Farnham which is another wonderful new venue for us.

So as you can see we have a very busy time during April and we cant wait to start, as well as our weddings we are obviously busy with everything else we photograph, you can check that out using the links on the right either on our other blogs or our facebook group.

This is my first post without photos for a while but you can click on the links to check out a few,   Have a wonderful Easter and check back soon to see some more amazing wedding from Jules and Sue x
