Hayley’s Bump

I was not sure wether to post Hayleys maternity photos here on our main blog or on our Boudoir Blog so I decided to do both:) She looked so beautiful I thought you should all see her.  Hayley was one of our 2005 Brides and we see her often to photograph her daughter Daisy but this was her first bump shot. This was taken in our studio with just a modeling light and no flash,  Our Nikons allowed us to shoot at 3200 ISO and still get beautiful files, I am pleased to say that Hayley and Matt have ordered the black and white version for there “boudoir”.

Nikon update

Despite the time of year Sue & I have been very busy and in the short month that we have been using our new Nikon’s we have already taken thousands of photographs between us and after numerous calls from other photographers over the past few weeks I thought I would give you all a quick update.

We have photographed 5 training days and 11 portraits 8 Boudoir’s and 3 weddings as well as numerous personal photos and every photograph so far has been as exciting as the very first all those years ago,  the Nikon kit really has rekindled my love for photography.  Those of you who know me will be very aware that I love my job and I am lucky that I always have and nothing has changed there, but for the first time in many years I want to go out on my day off and take photos and moreover so does Sue,  needless to say this has made us nerdy almost 24/7:)

The most amazing thing about the Nikon’s both the D3′s and the D700′s is the clean files, I love clean sharp photos and these cameras definitely produce what I am looking for, the last wedding I posted was a perfect example where I was shooting in Romsey Abbey between 3200 and 6400 ISO and OMG these files are clean as a whistle and pin sharp,  I also love the SB900′s (flashgun) the Nikon flash system is amazingly reliable and brilliant for my style, I use a lot of fill flash during these bright sunny days and I just love photographing in full sun so often need to use them to create my look.

The one thing that Sue continually comments on is the amount of kit that we now need to carry, although we do have spare cameras and lenses in our car, we only actually carry 3 cameras (2 x D3′s for me and 1D700 for Sue) along with 5 lenses, this is a lot less that we used to carry with our Canon kit and in fact sue carries all of our kit in 1 small shootsac which is brilliant.

We have 27 weddings over the next 12 weeks so I am sure that we are going to be a tad to busy t post too much here but one thing for sure is that I am happy to be on board with Nikon and looking forward to a great summer.

I would once again like to thank Colin Inglis  and Rob MacNiece from Nikon UK for there help .

Dean and Vicki @ Romsey Abbey

On Saturday Sue & I joined Dean and Vicki for their amazing wedding at Romsey Abbey and then onto Broadlands.  We started our day at their house for a few prep shots before leaving to meet Dean and his “best lady” at Romsey Abbey for a few very relaxed photos prior to the wonderful service in this amazing Abbey.

After the beautiful service we all (250+) ventured out into the gardens for some photos for what was a fun filled 30 minutes before we headed back to Broadlands where we were met by a great marquee and of course Pimms !

After an hour of lazing around in the sun we were served a wonderful hog roast and home made cakes:)yum yum on both counts, we then spent the early evening playing games out on the grass and taking a few photos before the music started.

Dean and Vicki chose a very formal service and then a very informal day which worked a treat,  as for Sue & I, well its a tough old life you know !

Busy week again :)

This has been one of our busiest weeks of the year so far, we booked a couple of great weddings and another couple of workshops, we photographed 3 boudoirs and 3 portraits and we had an amazing training day yesterday with Liz Mortimer who was one of our 2006 Brides .

You can see the Boudoirs here and the Workshop here and  I will post the portraits as they are edited on this blog.

Here are a few shots we took of Daisy,  We photographed Daisy’s Mum and Dads wedding back in 2005 and have photographed Daisy several times since, this week she came with her Mummy who had booked in a bump shoot, Hayley is pregnant with her second and we are delighted for her, whilst we were waiting for Hayley to get sorted Daisy was just playing around without any posing so I shot off a few of these, I hope to be ably to post the bump pictures after mum has decided,

I hope you love these.

You will probably see that Daisy was happily using all of our “good girl” stickers  and continued to stick them all over her and me,

Alan and Kelly @ Norton Park

On Saturday Sue & I joined Alan and Kelly at Norton Park nr Winchester for their wonderful wedding day. We met Alan and Kelly last year and have been looking forward to spending the day with them ever since, we started the day with Kelly and Julia and Olivia and Jessica along with mum whilst they had their hair and makeup done in the Manor House, we then popped over to see Alan and the lads who were as is usual finishing off all the last minute details like “who knows how to tie my cravat”.

We then had a beautiful ceremony in the Barn with 2 wonderful readings One of the readers, Alan’s young nephew read a Robby Burns poem and the whole room was in tears except me of course:), it was very emotional. We then all went out into the gardens for drinks and photos in the apple orchard as well as down by the lake.

We then had a wonderful wedding breakfast before some very entertaining speeches and then some great dancing with both a wonderful DJ and a great band.

All in all a pretty perfect wedding on what turned out to be a pretty perfect day,

Have a great honeymoon Alan and Kelly

Help for Heroes charity

Although Sue & I are committed to help our fantastic nominated charity for 2009 the Rose Road Appeal,  we still often get calls to help other charities and this morning I had a message from my good friend Phil Collins who runs a fantastic Archery Centre Eclipse Archery  in Hampshire, Phil asked if we could cover the photography for an event to raise money for Help for Heroes on August 16th this year,  and although its my birthday:)(message to you all…dont forget my card) we also have a fantastic wedding at Rhinefield with Dave and Emily on that day so we had to decline.

We did howether donate 2 fantastic photo prizes for there raffle.

If anybody else wants to help or attend please contact Phil for details at Eclipse Archery.

Our day at Marwell

As most of you already know, Sue & I also run a photo school, Its been very popular during the past 6 months and one of our most popular workshops is “getting to know your camera” its aimed at people who are looking to improve their photography and maybe have moved or are looking to move to a Digital Single Lens Reflex (DSLR) camera from there old compact. Today we had a workshop and Sophie and Emma asked if we could do part of the day outside, As both girls had already purchased their cameras Sue suggested Marwell Zoo which is a wonderful place to wander and photograph. Its a great location for a workshop because almost every shot comes with its own problems like shooting through wires or glass so very challenging but so much fun,

Sue and I both took our cameras, I took my D3 with a 70-200 and Sue took her D700 with a 105 VR so we decided to show you a few of our favorites from the day, I hope you enjoy them as much as we enjoyed taking them.
